Ecology & Preservation
Nepal is one of the most ecologically diverse countries in the world, with ecosystems ranging from the tropical plains of the Terai to the sub-arctic peaks of the Himalayas. Nepal is home to some of Asia's last wild elephants, tigers, and rhinoceroses, as well as the elusive and endangered snow leopards. In addition, Nepal is an ornithologist's heaven, with hundreds of species of birds migrating to Nepal from as far away as Siberia. Lastly, the botanical diversity of Nepal is outstanding. Unfortunately, much of Nepal's biodiversity has been severely threatened in the last fifty years. Scientists are scrambling to preserve the unique ecosystems that are currently on the brink of destruction. Students can work with our associates to study animal behavior, ornithology, botany, ecological preservation, eco-tourism, and reforestation.

“The family is very nice. The atmosphere is always happy. The food is good and I had a lot of freedom to do what I want. The members of the family are all sincere and open-hearted. And the family really is a history itself.”
- Yuchen Zhao, Personal Passage 2009
